FRESHDATA Technology

FRESHDATA was founded in 2022, as a spin-off from METU’s Communication Networks Research Group (CNG). FRESHDATA turns world-leading research to disruptive advanced technology for the scale-up of terrestrial and space based IoT. Over the last year we filed 12 new patents that can impact 6G, LoRa, and space communication standardization. Our first flagship product is the LPWAN Tunneling Relay, based on one of our pending patents. The FRESHDATA relay will stand out in the emerging LPWAN relay market by its energy efficiency, backward compatibility, and its ability to support a larger number of IoT devices. We will make the PoC demonstration of the FRESHDATA relay on an environmental IoT system deployed on a beach, for groundwater and ecosystem monitoring. The relay will have applications wherever LPWANs are used: smart cities, agriculture, monitoring of highways, gas pipelines, electrical distribution systems, as well as satellite uplink access for land and maritime IoT. FRESHDATA brings together a team with cutting edge experience in AoI research as well as implementation and prototyping of wireless multiuser systems, embedded software, and business development. We also have two industry leading advisors, from whose experience we will benefit greatly.

FRESHDATA was founded in 2022, as a spin-off of the METU Communication Networks Research Group (CNG).
FRESHDATA turns world-leading communications research to disruptive advanced technology for the scale-up of terrestrial and Space-based IoT.
Over the last year we filed 12 new patents that can impact 6G, LoRa/LoRaWAN, and Space communication standardization. Our first flagship product is the LPWAN Tunneling Relay, based on one of our pending patents, powered by our trademark LoRaFRESH protocol, which is the world’s first age-aware LoRa. FRESHDATA brings together a team at the frontier of semantic and goal-oriented communication research as well as implementation and prototyping of wireless multiuser systems, embedded software, and business development. We also have two industry leading advisors, from whose experience we will benefit greatly.

Gap in the LPWAN Sector

Freshdata Next-Gen Relay® will fill the gap and seize the market opportunity

Scalability

Scalability bottleneck limiting increase and heterogeneity of IoT devices and traffic

Energy

High energy consumption, and limited range especially in areas with poor connectivity

Cost

High cost of LoRaWAN gateways, high 5G-6G infrastructure cost

Backward Compatibility

Relays are beginning to emerge in the market but none is readily useable with common Class A devices deployed in the field.*

*As of March 2023, there were more than 100 million Class A devices and 270 million LoRaWAN devices and gateways in service
